KARACHI: Wicket keeper batter Saifullah Achakzai’s blasting knock of 93 runs helped Pakistan to secure their first victory in the Physical Disability Champions Trophy on Tuesday.
Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by a huge margin of 140 runs at the BOI Cricket Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka on the other day. Pakistan PD posted a big total of 209-3, with Saifullah’s brilliant strike of 93 runs off 68 balls, which included 8 fours and 5 sixes. Opener Mohammad Noman played a remarkable innings and scored 49 runs off 33 balls, featuring 8 boundaries. Sri Lankan bowler Priyashantha claimed 2 wickets for 36 runs.
In reply, the Sri Lanka PD team was dismissed for a mere 69 runs, all out in 15.4 overs. Muhammad Noman contributed a solid 27 runs from 18 deliveries, including 2 boundaries, while Skipper Udugama managed 16 runs off 36 balls, featuring 1 boundary.
Off-spinner Ghulam Muhammad captured 3 wickets for only 7 runs, while left-armer Waqif Shah took 3 wickets for 9 runs. Skipper Abdullah Ijaz finished with figures of 1 wicket for 18 runs. Saifullah Achakzai adjudged man-of-the-match.
