IGP orders resolving police officials’ issues

LAHORE:The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Tuesday met with cops and their families at the Central Police Office (CPO).

The IGP listened to their concerns and asked authorities to attend their issues. He forwarded the plea of the widow of Shaheed ASI Basharat Ali to DIG Establishment-II, the request of DSP Yousaf Haroon to Additional IG Special Branch, the plea of Constable Muhammad Idrees to relevant officers and request of Constable Faqeer Hussain to the DIG IT.

Meanwhile, the IGP convened a meeting with inspectors from Lahore and other districts at the CPO to discuss their promotion issues. During the meeting, the inspectors highlighted challenges faced by them in the process of their promotions.

He assured them that their concerns would be addressed on a priority basis and directed the Additional IG Punjab and DIG Establishment-I to expedite resolutions to the hurdles in their promotions.

Over 156,000 avail Khidmat Marakaz services

More than 156,000 citizens availed various services from the Police Khidmat Marakaz across Punjab during the first 13 days of 2025.

Some 83,000 citizens underwent general police verification, over 36,000 obtained police character certificates, over 18,000 got tenancy agreements registered, over 4,000 got medical-legal certificates, over 4,700 vulnerable individuals received legal and social protection, over 1,500 availed vehicle verification services, 3,100 got registered missing documents, 175 filed crime reports and more than 4,600 got copies of FIRs.

Three cases of violence against women were registered, 567 citizens registered employees through the ROPE (Registration of Private Employees) system, and 27 got verified papers for private job.

Addl IG chairs video link meeting

The Additional Inspector General Police (IGP) Investigation chaired a video link meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) and emphasised strict adherence to the Anti-Rape Investigation and Trial Act 2021.

The Additional IG directed enrollment of investigation officers in IT courses and mandated that cases under Section 9 of the Act be handled by the SSOI unit. He noted that 1,450 officers have been trained under the Act and stressed assigning cases involving female complainants or accused to female officers.
