Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday said he would lodge FIRs against the towns’ illegal occupation of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) parking sites. He said the PPP chairman had promised to prioritise public welfare if the KMC came under their control.
Wahab said he would lodge FIRs against the towns’ illegal occupation of the KMC’s parking sites. “We’re investing billions of rupees to build roads while the Jamaat-e-Islami is granting permissions for road-cutting.”
He said the KMC had received a cheque for Rs200 million from K-Electric a day earlier. Five development schemes worth Rs233.6 million have been completed in Orangi Town, including water supply improvements, sewer line repairs, paving block installations and road carpeting, he added. Speaking to the media after inaugurating road construction and other development projects in Orangi Town, including Qatar Hospital Road, the mayor remarked: “We’re transforming the KMC into an active and transparent institution by promptly addressing public complaints. While much work remains, we’re committed to spending resources on public welfare.”
