NOWSHERA: Three people were killed when two rival groups traded fire near Lal Kurti Railway Crossing in the Nowshera Cantonment, police sources said on Tuesday.
The sources said two people from one group and one from the other side were killed in the firing. The injured and slain were rushed to the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex. The police registered a case. According to police, Sajjad Ali and Haider Zaman, residents of Tangi Khattak, were returning home after a hearing at the district court in Nowshera. Sajjad was on bail in a murder case and had appeared in court along with his relative Haider. They were traveling in a rickshaw near Lal Kurti Railway Crossing when two accused Mohammad Ifaq and Ayaz, riding a motorcycle intercepted and opened fire on Sajjad and Haider. Sajjad was killed on the spot, and Haider sustained critical injuries. In retaliation, Aqif, son of Haider Zaman, who was accompanying them, fired back, injuring M Ifaq. Ayaz managed to escape. Both Sajjad and the injured were shifted to Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex, where Haider succumbed to injuries while being transferred to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital. Meanwhile, Ifaq also succumbed to his wounds at the medical complex.
