After crackdown...: Afghan transit trade declines by 89pc

ISLAMABAD: In the wake of crackdown on smuggling, the Afghan transit trade has declined by 89 per cent in the first five months of the current financial year.

Sources say that during the first five months of this fiscal year, from July to November 2024, the Afghan transit trade was 464.6 million dollars after a decrease of 89% on an annual basis, which was 2.23 billion dollars in the same period last year. According to government sources, in the last fiscal year 2023-24, the volume of Afghan transit was 2.887 billion dollars and in 2020-23, the Afghan transit trade was 7.95 billion dollars.
