PESHAWAR: Wall chalking in favour of Daesh was witnessed on the Sher Shah Suri Road in the sensitive area of the provincial capital, triggering concerns among the people.
The writing with a temporary white chalk only wrote the name Daesh in Urdu on a wall near the Cantt Railway Station. It was reported that the same was written on another wall as well.
Authorities cleaned the wall when it was brought into the notice of the officials.
An official said a joint investigation by the Counter-Terrorism Department and local police was being done to find if it was some mischievous act or there were other elements behind it.
A team has started collecting CCTV footage and other evidence to find as to who was behind this. The wall chalking in the centre of the capital city has triggered concern among the locals.
Previously, the graffiti in favour of the IS appeared in Mathra in 2022, on Ring Road near Pajaggi in 2018 and in Nanakpura locality in the limits of the Hashtnagri Police Station in 2014.
