70-year old woman raped, robbed

LAHORE:A 70-year-old woman was allegedly subjected to sexual assault and robbery by two unidentified men in the Dharampura area, according to police. A case was registered at Mustafabad Police Station.

The FIR stated that the victim was travelling in a rickshaw when a man dressed in a security guard's uniform stopped her near Dharampura, citing a security check. The suspect then took her to a secluded spot near railway crossing, where she was assaulted. Another suspect, approximately 26-year-old, was also reportedly involved in the crime. The attackers also robbed the victim of Rs70,000 before fleeing the scene.

Swindlers’ gang busted; three arrested

Police have arrested three suspects, including a woman, involved in duping customers through the OLX app and fleeing after snatching valuable items, including mobile phones. According to police officials, a raid was conducted based on a tip-off, leading to the arrest of three suspects: Shakeel alias Khalifa, Asif, and a woman identified as Kainat.

The suspects allegedly lured victims through the OLX platform, pretending to sell or buy items, and then robbed them at gunpoint. During the operation, the police recovered stolen items worth over one million rupees, including seven mobile phones, a pistol with bullets, and Rs200,000 in cash. Cases have been registered against the accused.

Newborn found abandoned

A newborn was found abandoned but alive near Ashiana Road at Hakim Chowk in Shama Colony. According to Rescue 1122 officials, emergency vehicles arrived after receiving the report. Upon reaching the site, they found the infant in a critical condition but breathing. The team provided immediate first aid and transferred the baby to the Children’s Hospital. The identity of the child’s parents remains unknown.

Two arrested in murder case

Mustafabad Investigation police arrested two suspects over murdering a 25-year-old man, identified as Muhammad Asim, over a financial dispute.

The incident took place a few days ago in the Mustafabad area. According to police officials, the investigation team used modern technology, including CCTV footage and IT expertise, to track down the suspects. The arrested individuals, identified as Waqas alias Kashi Gujjar and Naeem alias Chand Gujjar, were found to have shot the victim over monetary disagreements. During the operation, the police recovered the weapon used in the crime.

‘Shooter’ killed in encounter’

A shooter was killed in an exchange of fire between the Organised Crime Unit City Kotwali and robbers here on Thursday.According to police officials, a police team was taking the accused Azam Ali to Gujjarpura police station to recover stolen goods and weapons.

The accomplices of the accused opened indiscriminate fire on the police party to free their detained fellow. As a result, the accused received serious bullet injuries and was being shifted to a hospital, but he died on the way.
