LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that Pakistan People’s Party is committed to safeguarding the rights of government employees.
He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Passco staff union which called on him at the Governor’s House here on Friday. During the meeting, Punjab Governor emphasised that he will not support any initiatives that harm their economic well-being. He highlighted the PPP’s track record of creating jobs and its dedication to standing with employees, as envisioned by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He also expressed concern about the potential dissolving of Passco, which would negatively impact farmers, cultivators, and 3,000 employees. The governor said that Passco, founded by Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, is not only self-sustaining but also generating revenue for the country. He said that the government's decision not to purchase wheat or provide support price would severely affect the agriculture sector and lead to a difficult situation regarding wheat in the country next year. The members of the delegation informed the governor of their reservations of dissolving the Passco. The governor assured them of conveying their concerns to the president and prime minister.
Later, a friendly cricket match was played between Showbiz Star XI and Governor XI at the Governor’s House Lahore, with Governor XI emerging victorious by eight wickets. On this occasion, the governor emphasised the importance of healthy activities and appreciated the efforts of Lahore Qalandars and Civil City for promoting sports.
