Focus on improving health sector: Salman

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique discussed health reforms with leadership of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) here at PMA House on Monday.

Khawaja Salman Rafique said that efforts are being made to provide the best health facilities to the people according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz. The Punjab government is fully focused on improving the health sector, he stated.

President Pakistan Medical Association Punjab Dr Kamran Sheikh, PMA Central President Prof Izhar Chaudhry, Patron PMA Prof Ashraf Nizami, President Lahore Prof Shahid Malik, Prof Khalid Mahmood, Dr. Nadir, Dr. Salman Kazmi, Dr. Bushra Haq, Capt (retd) Arshad Humayun, Dr. Iram Shahzadi, Dr Wajid, Prof Ali and other officials were present.

Provincial health minister and officials of Pakistan Medical Association had a fruitful discussion on solving the problems of the medical community, modern reforms for the improvement of the health system, point of sale, non-discriminatory action against fraudsters, and other issues.

Khawaja Salman said on this occasion that Pakistan Medical Association is striving for the betterment of the doctors’ community. He said that the Punjab Healthcare Commission has been directed to take strict action against quacks, the enemies of innocent humanity. Facilities will be created for general practitioners. A state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is being built in Lahore. Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology are being built in Lahore and Sargodha. Efforts are being made to improve the quality of medical education in Punjab, he concluded.
