ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has distanced itself from a January 17 press release allegedly carrying its comments on the accountability court’s decision in the £190 million case, saying that it has neither made any such statement nor issued any press release on the matter.
Issuing a statement, the council’s secretary clarified that the PBC always disseminates its official press releases to media persons through its official account and uploads them on its official Facebook page as well as on the council’s website.
He said that a press release dated January 17 purportedly issued by the PBC has been circulating on social media since a day earlier, adding that the press release allegedly contains the PBC’s comments on the court’s decision in the £190 million reference.
It is categorically clarified that this press release is entirely “fake”, he stressed, clarifying that the PBC has neither made any such statement nor issued any press release on the matter. “Any claims to the contrary are false and should be disregarded.”
He said the PBC would thoroughly investigate the origin of this “fake” press release and identify those responsible for uploading it on social media. “Strict action will be taken against individuals involved in spreading this false information.”
