FAISALABAD: Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza has warned if the government does not establish a judicial commission, the fourth round of talks will not take place.
Addressing a news conference at Jamia Rizvia in Jhang Bazaar, here on Wednesday, Hamid Raza, who is also the spokesperson for the opposition’s negotiation committee, further said the Al-Qadir Trust case verdict will undoubtedly affect the ongoing negotiation process.
He warned failure to reach meaningful outcomes in the negotiations could lead to street protests. Criticising the Punjab government’s reaction to the Al-Qadir Trust case, he alleged a storm of accusations was unleashed, with claims of the misuse of “religious card.” According to him, the nature of the case was altered three times, and no corruption was committed.
The SIC chairman said the funds in question were transferred from England to the Supreme Court’s account, and neither the PTI founder nor his family derived any benefit from them.
Hamid Raza also criticised propaganda against the inclusion of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH) in the curriculum, asserting that the Al-Qadir Trust was promoting spiritual education and Sufism.
He condemned the Punjab government’s attempts to take over the trust, noting that students were forcibly evicted. He called for transparency in the financial dealings of other trusts, including the Sharif Trust, alleging that illegal kidney transplants for foreigners were conducted under its patronage.
The SIC chairman further accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of consistently using religious card for political gains. He argued that despite decades in power, they failed to establish an institution like Al-Qadir Trust, which aimed to educate youth on Seerat-un-Nabi.
Hamid Raza also criticised Maryam Nawaz, claiming she spent more on her tours than on scholarships. He urged her to let mothers remain mothers to their children instead of taking over their roles.
He slammed the Al-Qadir Trust verdict as a “stain on the judiciary” and said the case would be overturned in a few Supreme Court hearings. He also warned once PTI’s founder returns to power, inquiries will be conducted into trusts that secured financial benefits under the current government.
Hamid Raza concluded by highlighting that sensationalism and controversy are often added to real news, while denying any prolonged meetings with the Prime Minister. He remarked that the current leadership’s days of uncertainty are numbered.
