ISLAMABAD: Bangladesh has approved a Pakistan’s private airline to operate direct flights on the Karachi-Dhaka route, resuming air connectivity between the two cities after nearly a decade.
According to Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, the airline has been allowed to operate on the sector. The airline will have to appoint a local General Sales Agent (GSA) in Bangladesh before launching operations. It is likely that the airline would soon appoint a GSA. The slots and frequencies would be provided accordingly.
It would be pertinent to recall that the national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), operated direct flights on this route until February 2015.
