Two women injured in acid attack

LAHORE:Two women sustained burns when two unidentified motorcyclists threw acid on them in the Harbanspura area on Thursday.

The victims were on their way to a local market when two men on a motorcycle intercepted them and threw acid on them. As a result, both women were injured, while the attackers managed to flee the scene.

One woman ‘S’ suffered burns to her face, hands, and other parts of her body, while another woman ‘F’ was also injured in the attack. Police registered a case based on the victims' complaint. One of the victims stated that she was on her way to buy groceries. As she approached her home, the two men on the motorcycle threw acid, injuring both her and her friend, who was walking nearby.

Two women among five robbers arrested

Police have arrested five individuals, including two women, for their involvement in the robbery in a businessman’s house, owned by Khawaja Shahzeb. During a press conference, the DIG of the Organised Crime Unit confirmed that the police successfully recovered the stolen money, gold ornaments, and illegal weapons. The arrested suspects were identified as Irfan, Tariq, Iqbal (alias Bala), Misbah Bibi, and Shakooran Bibi. According to the DIG, the primary suspect, Tariq, has a criminal history with more than 50 serious offenses, while Iqbal, alias Bala, were also wanted in connection with numerous other incidents.

Nine die on road in 24 hours

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,270 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. In these accidents, nine people died, whereas 1,427 were injured. Out of these, 576 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 851 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
