FIA unearths networks of Hawala, Hundi business

MULTAN: The Federal Investigation Agency Cybercrime Wing conducted unearthed networks involved in Hawala and Hundi in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions. Sources said the FIA was also working on tips about the alleged involvement of motor car mechanics involved in the import of used cars from abroad through Hawala Hundi and paying used cars owners abroad in US dollars. A team of FIA Cyber Crime Wing conducted successful raids against Hundi Hawala operators in Bahawalpur. The team raided a mobile shop at Hussaini Chowk and another mobile shop at Old Bus Stand Hasilpur under control of Nazeer Ahmed. Both mobile shops were allegedly involved in Hundi Hawala. During the raid at Saim Mobile Shop, a delivery order amounting to Rs 300,000 was seized, which was received from KSA to Nazeer Ahmed through his brother Shabbir Ahmed in KSA to Naseer Ahmad. The team seized diaries containing Hundi Hawala delivery order record and a mobile phone with Hundi Hawala transactions while owner Attaur Rasool was apprehended on the spot. In another raid on GM Mobile Shop, its owner Ghulam Murtaza was arrested and a mobile phone having Hundi Hawala transactions was recovered. On the disclosure of above accused persons, their head Nazeer Ahmed was also arrested from Hasilpur. Meanwhile, in a crackdown against illegal business of Hawala Hundi, the FIA team raided at Jampur and arrested accused Muhammad Irfan of Tehsil Jampur, Rajanpur district, and recovered mobile phones containing messages related to Hawala Hundi.
