PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reportedly spent Rs500 million so far on arranging Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallies and protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources said.
Sources told Geo News that the chief minister personally funded the expenses for political gatherings and demonstrations, including the damage incurred during protests, such as burnt machinery and other losses.
The sources further disclosed that for an upcoming rally, CM Gandapur has provided PTI with an additional Rs5 million. Moreover, the rent for hundreds of vehicles participating in the rally convoy has already been paid.
A large convoy from the Dera Ismail Khan region, led by Umar Amin, is expected to arrive in Swabi for the event.
Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister’s spokesperson, Faraz Mughal, confirmed to Geo News that Ali Amin Gandapur had been covering these expenses out of his own pocket. He added that the chief minister had also allocated funds for the upcoming rally and remained committed to supporting the party.
The significant expenditure on PTI's political activities has raised discussions about the financial aspects of such large-scale events, prompting debates over political funding and resource allocation in the province.
The PTI is scheduled to hold a rally in Swabi today. The PTI has made arrangements for the public gathering. The chief minister and other senior PTI leaders are expected to address the rally, which is part of the PTI efforts to put pressure on the federal government to release PTI founder Imran Khan.
