Education reform

Sunday, Feb 09, 2025

Skill development has seen reformation with new demands and requirements. However, Pakistan lags far behind in ensuring quality education with required skill development. With less than 2 per cent of the budget spent on education, our education system is inadequate. Skills such as complex problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, emotional intelligence, decision-making, and cognitive flexibility are not part of the curricula at educational institutes.

Macro educational reforms need to take place in mending curricula and running schools accordingly. On the ground level, educationists are required to signify such reformation. Additionally, without political will, it is not feasible to aim for such reforms. However, as long as it is about the betterment of Pakistan, it should be treated as the highest priority.
