Islamabad : A delegation from Faizabad transport union met with Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad, Captain (r) Syed Zeeshan Haider. On the occasion SP Traffic, senior police officers and representatives from the transport union were present at the meeting.

The meeting focused on ensuring the smooth flow of traffic, managing congestion at bus terminals, and addressing the issues faced by the union. Assurances of full cooperation were provided for the timely resolution of these problems. Additionally, both the transport union and Islamabad Traffic Police will use all available resources to enhance mutual cooperation. The Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad said that buses should park inside bus terminals when picking up and dropping off passengers. Drivers must have a valid driving license, and they should refrain from driving if they have any mental or medical issues.

Drivers should also ensure that their vehicles undergo timely fitness tests and avoid exceeding speed limits or overtaking recklessly. Only vehicles with a route permit should be used for public services, he added. He further emphasized that charging extra fares from passengers during Eid holidays is a violation of regulations and requires urgent review. The CTO also informed the transport union that the Traffic Police’s education team would visit bus terminals to raise awareness about traffic rules among drivers.
