Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori on Saturday announced plans to organise the largest-ever "Ittehad Ramzan" banquet at the Governor House during the upcoming holy month of Ramazan, with the aim of serving Iftar to one million people.
The families of martyrs would be the special guests of honour at the events throughout Ramadan.
At a press conference held at the Governor House, Tessori revealed that valuable prizes, including Umrah tickets, residential plots, and laptops, totalling millions of rupees, would be distributed through a lucky draw among attendees of the Ramadan feasts. He invited people from across the province to join in and break their fast at the Governor House during Ramadan.
Tessori further shared that a grand stage would be set up at the Governor House for special Ramadan programs, with scholars and reciters from 15 countries participating in Qur'an recitations and Naat sessions. Special Taraveeh prayers would be led by an esteemed religious scholar from Madina Sharif, with additional gatherings for Naat, Qawwali, and Zikr also planned.
The Governor also urged parents to register their children at the Governor House for a special table where kids observing their first fast would break it alongside him. He encouraged lawmakers from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan to organise communal Iftar events in their respective constituencies.
Tessori emphasised that this initiative would help promote a positive image of Pakistan globally during Ramadan. He expressed his desire to spread love and unity among the people during the holy month. In response to a question, he directed the IG Sindh and DIG Traffic to take immediate action to address the rising number of fatal dumper accidents in Karachi.
