ISLAMABAD: Two female cyclists secured medals in the Asian Road & Para Cycling 2025 event underway in Bangkok (Thailand), marking a historic moment for the country.
Rabia Gharib and Zainab Rizwan made Pakistan proud with their stellar performances in the Women’s Master Individual Time Trial. Rabia, while representing SSGC, clinched a silver medal in the 50 and above category with a time of 18:44.515 and an average speed of 34.25 km/h. She became the first Pakistani woman to win a silver medal in this event.
Meanwhile, Zainab Rizwan, from Bikestan Cycling Academy competing in the 40-44 category, delivered an impressive performance, securing bronze with a time of 16:32.413 and an average speed of 37.76 km/h.
Both the athletes made their debut on the international stage, proving their potential and showcasing Pakistan’s growing strength in women’s cycling. Their success reflects the Pakistan Cycling Federation’s (PCF) commitment to promoting cycling at the national and international levels.
The performance of these cyclists is expected to boost the popularity of cycling in Pakistan and inspire more women to take up the sport professionally. The Pakistan Cycling Federation was optimistic as this success will lead to more achievements in future international events.
