A policeman was shot dead and his wife wounded in a firing incident that took place at a residential apartment in the Steel Town area on Monday.
The incident took place within the limits of the Steel Town police station. Following the incident, police and rescuers reached the property and transported the casualties to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where the deceased police constable was identified as 40 year old Khameso Jokhio who was stationed at the Steel Town police station.
His wife Raeesa Begum, 30, was also injured in the incident. Initial police investigations suggest that personal enmity led to the shooting. A man, Saqib, has been identified as the primary suspect who is a relative of the deceased cop belonging to the Jokhio community. The suspect fled the scene after the incident and efforts are under way to apprehend him. No case had been registered till this story was filed.
