KARACHI: State Bank defeated Eshaal Associates by 164 runs in the sixth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 championship here at the State Bank Stadium Monday.
State Bank now stand on top of the points table. In another match, Wapda defeated PTV by 3 wickets while the match between KRL and Ghani Glass ended in a draw. Eshaal Associates had a target of 362 runs to win against State Bank but the entire team was dismissed for 197 runs. Umar Siddique was the top scorer with 47 runs. Muhammad Abbas took 4 wickets for 57 runs. Fawad Alam took three wickets.
At the Rashid Latif Academy Ground, Wapda were given a target of 354 runs to win against PTV. On the third day, they scored 180-3 and they scored another 174 runs needed for victory after losing four more wickets. Muhammad Arif was dismissed after adding just 6 runs to his previous day’s score of 101, after that Ayaz Tawasur scored 58 not out and Khalid Usman played an innings of 27 not out to lead his team to victory. Faisal Akram took three wickets, thus taking his tally to 9 wickets in the match.
At the KCCA Stadium, KRL were given a target of 196 runs to win against Ghani Glass, but at the end of the game, they scored 31 runs for one wicket and the match ended in a draw. Earlier, Ghani Glass were dismissed for 288 runs in the second innings. Mohsin Riaz 83 and Ali Razzaq stood out with 68 runs.
