KARACHI: Three women boxers from Army advanced to the semi-finals on the second day (Tuesday) (the 41st National Elite Men’s and 5th Women’s National Boxing Championships being organised by the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF). The semi-finals line-up also completed in the men’s 50kg category on Tuesday.
Results Women’s 48kg quarter-finals: Amna bt Muhaddisa (Balochistan, Gohar Taj (Navy) bt Uzma Nawaz (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Sana (Punjab) bt Humaira (PAF), Umm Al-Baneen (Army) bt Shehla (Sindh).
Quarter-finals women’s 51kg category: Maria Rind (Army) bt Maryam (Balochistan), Iqra (Wapda) bt Laiba (Punjab), Maryam (Navy) bt Kashf (AJK), Sehrish (PAF) bt Sumiya (KP). Malaika (Army) also won and qualified for the semi-finals.
Quarter-finals men’s 50kg category: Amir Ali (Railways) bt Asifullah (KP), Asghar Ali (Balochistan) bt Sher Ali (HEC), Muhammad Fahim (Army) bt Jahanzeb (Wapda), Abdul Basit (KPT) bt Sajid Rasheed (Navy). Preliminary round men’s 80kg category: Ali Asghar (Punjab) bt Fahad Latif (AJK); Amir Ali (Sindh) bt Rafi Niazi (Islamabad), Muhammad Waseem (Police) bt Muhammad Idrees (Balochistan), Ehsanullah (Army) bt Sameer Kamal (PAF).
