Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has invited Japanese transport sector companies to invest in mass transit projects in Karachi.
The CM extended this offer on Thursday while meeting the ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi, at the Chief Minister House. The meeting discussed various issues of mutual interests.
The CM told the Japanese diplomat that his government had been working to improve the transport facilities in the entire province to ensure speedy and convenient travelling facilities for the public. He said the Sindh government had also been working to build wastewater treatment facilities to ensure environmental protection and overcome the shortage of water in the province. Shah said the prospective Japanese companies could invest in wastewater treatment projects for the city. He said that his government would facilitate the prospective foreign investors and companies under the public-private partnership mode of development.
The Japanese ambassador expressed keen interest in the proposition of investing in projects related to wastewater treatment and mass transit systems in Sindh. He told the CM that the Japanese companies had been looking for investment opportunities in Sindh to improve bilateral trade ties between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to develop a permanent mechanism of coordination between the Sindh government’s investment department and the Japanese embassy in Pakistan to facilitate investment by Japanese companies in different sectors of the province.
