LONDON: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, while reminding the British government of its moral obligations vis-a-vis the resolution of longstanding Kashmir dispute, on Thursday said that the issue, rooted in flawed partition of British India, continued to pose a threat to the region’s peace and stability.
Addressing British Parliamentarians in the House of Commons, the AJK president said that the Kashmir issue arose after Britain left the subcontinent. He termed the Kashmir dispute as a constant threat to the region’s peace and security, adding that the long-standing dispute hangs on despite the lapse of 77 years. He said that Kashmiris have been desperately looking for help from international community. He said that the international community should realise the fact that peace in South Asia was inescapably linked to the settlement of the unresolved Kashmir issue.
