LAHORE: As part of celebrations of the Horse and Cattle Show 2025, the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) organised the All Breed International Dog Show at Jilani Park here on Sunday.
Hundreds of beautiful pet dogs of various breeds participated in the competition. The dog show featured German Shepherds, Australian Shepherds, American Bulldogs, Affenpinschers, Airedale Terriers, Akbash, Akitas, Alano Español, Alpine Dachsbracke, Borzois, Boxers, Brittany, Bulldogs, Taiwan Dogs, Alaskan Malamutes, and many other breeds.
A total of 280 dogs from 35 different breeds participated in the competition. International judges Jeff Horswell and Peter Friedrich carried out the judging duties. The dog show also included grooming demonstrations, dog nutrition and health categories, and other competitions. Trophies, cups, and other prizes were awarded to the winners in different categories.
The purpose of the dog show was to provide information about pet dogs in an engaging manner. Due to such high-quality dog shows, Pakistan’s soft image is being enhanced globally in the pet-lover countries. The event saw a large number of women, children, and youth, including foreigners, participating. Medals, cups, and gifts were distributed to the winning teams and dogs.
Meanwhile, PHA also organised the 'Shandur Polo' competition at Fortress Stadium. The match was played between the teams of Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. Provincial Minister for Livestock and Agriculture, Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and DG M Tahir Wattoo, participated as the chief guests.
An exciting and nerve-wracking polo match was held between the teams of Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral. The game lasted for 50 minutes, divided into two halves of 25 minutes each. The Chitral team scored 6 goals, winning the match by a one-goal lead, while the Gilgit-Baltistan team scored 5 goals. The minister and PHA DG distributed prizes among the teams.
