LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has issued a show cause notice to the security firm after a video surfaced on social media showing its security guards allegedly firing on a private car and assaulting its driver.
The incident took place at the Beijing (Dharampura) underpass on Thursday. According to the notice, the company had been licensed under the Punjab Private Security Companies (Regulation & Control) (Amendment) Act, 2004.
However, the authorities cited Section 13(2)(b) of the Act, which mandates security companies to ensure the good conduct of their employees and prohibits hiring individuals deemed unfit for the role.
An FIR No. 710/25 was registered at Mughalpura Police Station under sections 148, 149, and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The Home Department has given the security firm 30 days to respond in writing, failing which its’ licence may be revoked.
Following a viral social media clip, the Home Department issued show cause notice, forwarded it to relevant authorities, and summoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the security agency for a personal hearing on March 17 (Monday), 2025, directing him to present supporting records and documents. On Thursday, a shocking incident of violence occurred on Lahore’s Canal Road near Beijing Underpass when private security guards, assigned to foreign guests, fired at a citizen’s car for not giving way.
