HARIPUR: The Haripur consumer protection court has decided a record 2308 complaints providing relief to the consumers during the last three years, a report released on Saturday said.
The progress report issued from the office of Registrar Haripur Consumer Protection Court Abdul Haseeb on the occasion of world consumer day said that the judge, Muneera Ashraf Abbasi, decided 2308 cases during the last three years.
The cases included 83 of commercial disputes related while the rest were related to consumers’ rights against the retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers, food industries, pharmaceutical companies, courier companies, private schools and government entities like Pesco, Environment Protection Agency, sports department.
Most of the cases were disposed of under Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR and Mediation in the guidelines of Holy Quran, directives from the higher judiciary and Consumer Protection law and Resolution of Commercial Disputes Act 2022.
Overbilling and overcharging of consumers by Pesco, spurious drugs, sub-standard food items, poor services by private courier services, post office, insufficient facilities and fee collection related complaints against private educational institutions, industrial pollution, disposal of solid waste and other consumer related complaints were filed and decided by providing relief to the complainants in a speedy manner.
