LAHORE:Police have devised a comprehensive security plan for the Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Ali (RA), deploying over 26,000 officers across the province.
According to a police spokesperson, 17,000 personnel will be assigned to secure 192 mourning processions, while more than 9,000 will oversee 955 Majalis. Security measures include 1,971 metal detectors, 457 walk-through gates, and continuous surveillance via Safe Cities Authority and district administration cameras.
A total of 27 high-category processions and 62 Majalis will be closely monitored from the Central Control and Monitoring Room at the Central Police Office. Female officers will conduct security checks for female participants, while plainclothes commandos and rooftop snipers will ensure safety along procession routes. Traffic management will be prioritised through alternative routes, and specialised units, including Dolphin Squad, PRU, Special Branch, and CTD, will implement a coordinated security strategy.
