KOHAT: A terrorist attack on the Muslimabad police checkpost along the Indus Highway was successfully thwarted, a police official said Thursday. Kohat RPO Abbas Majeed Marwat said a group of 10 to 15 terrorists launched an assault on the checkpost after Iftar, opening fire on the police personnel stationed there. Upon receiving reports of attack, he said, they reached the spot with a heavy contingent of police to counter the assailants. The intense exchange of fire lasted for approximately 30 minutes, he said, after which the terrorists fled towards the nearby hills. “The security forces have since launched a search operation in the area to track down the attackers,” he added.
