ISLAMABAD: The court of Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abbas Shah has remanded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Haider Saeed to judicial custody.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested the accused for allegedly spreading propaganda on social media against state institutions.
After the completion of his three-day physical remand, he was presented in court.
The court rejected the prosecution’s request for an extension of his physical remand and ordered his transfer to jail on judicial remand.
The prosecutor argued that further remand was necessary to investigate various social media accounts linked to the accused. However, the court questioned what has been recovered during the three-day remand. The prosecutor responded that Saeed’s mobile and laptop had been recovered. The court denied the request for an extension and ordered the accused to be sent to jail. A case has been registered against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca).
