The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) held a session on Monday to review the progress of the ACTIVE Project, a significant capacity-building initiative focused on environmental sustainability and youth empowerment.
The session was attended by Dr Enrique Nava, Vice Chancellor of Mobility and International Affairs at the University of Malaga, Spain, who praised the SSUET for the successful implementation of the project.
He highlighted the university’s efforts in fostering innovation and sustainability, and commended the team for their dedication to the project’s goals. Also present at the session were SSUET Chancellor Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, Vice Chancellor Dr Syed Jafar Nazir Usmani, Registrar Commodore (retd) Syed Sarfraz Ali, Erum Akbar, as well as deans, chairpersons, and faculty members.
Dr Nava delivered an insightful presentation about the University of Malaga and expressed optimism about the ongoing partnership. He noted that mechanisms were being put in place to transfer remaining funds and resources to Sir Syed University to complete the project's next phases. “Through the ACTIVE Project, young individuals will receive essential training, empowering them with the skills needed to build a sustainable future,” he said.
SSUET Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan emphasised the university’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of engineers equipped to tackle Pakistan’s pressing environmental and climate-related challenges. “In a rapidly evolving world, our future depends not only on technological progress but also on how well we integrate this progress with a deep understanding of environmental issues,” he stated.
