LAHORE:The Punjab Home Department has issued comprehensive security directives in view of the Christian community's observance of Good Friday (today) and Easter on Sunday. The instructions aimed to ensure peace and public safety across the province.
The department has directed the installation of high-resolution CCTV cameras in churches, Christian residential areas, and public spaces. Authorities have been instructed to implement foolproof security measures across all districts, particularly at churches, parks, shopping centres, cinemas, and recreational sites expected to witness large gatherings.
District administrations have been told to ensure strict vigilance and heightened security, with control rooms across all districts to be linked with the central control of the Home Department. The use of hotel management software (Hotel Eye) has been made mandatory for all hotels, inns, and rest houses during the period.
The department has also called for active engagement of interfaith harmony and peace committees, with Christian community volunteers directed to remain on high alert alongside law enforcement agencies.
