Four held under terrorism charges for attacking food chain restaurant

Police have arrested four people and booked them under anti-terrorism charges for allegedly attacking an international food chain’s restaurant in North Karachi.

A series of attacks on international food chain restaurants have been reported across different areas of Karachi, including Gadap City, Korangi, Aziz Bhatti, Gulberg and Defence in which more than two dozen individuals have been arrested so far.

According to police, a case was registered at the Sir Syed police station on the complaint of the state. The FIR stated that a mob of around 100 people gathered and vandalised the restaurant.

police later arrested four suspects — Obaid, Waseem, Hammad and Uzair. Police said they were involved in attacking the international food chain restaurant in North Karachi on Wednesday night and they were part of the crowd that gathered outside the restaurant and pelted it with stones, which also caused damaged to a police mobile van. Police said raids were being conducted to arrest more suspects involved in the incident.
