Unidentified assailants on Thursday gunned down a union committee (UC) chairman of Orangi Town. The Karachi police chief, Additional IG Javed Alam Odho, took notice of the murder and sought a detailed report from the District West SSP on the incident.
According to reports, some motorcyclists opened fire on the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) UC Chairman Amir Bhutto, son of Abdul Kalam, in the Gulshan-e-Zia area of Pakistan Bazaar in Orangi Town.
The attackers fled the scene after the shooting. Upon receiving the report, police and Rangers arrived at the location and began investigations. According to the police, the victim was in his office when two motorcyclists opened fire on him.
The Crime Scene Unit was called to collect evidence from the scene. The experts collected six bullet casings from the crime scene. The victim was hit by five bullets in various parts of his body.
According to people of the area, Bhutto ran a real estate agency. At the time of the shooting, he was present at the office of his agency. The slain UC chairman was the nephew of former District West PPP office-bearer Salam Bihari and brother-in-law of Town Chairman Jamil Dairy.
Following the incident, Additional IG Odho took notice of the incident and sought an immediate report from the West SSP. He also instructed effective measures for the swift arrest of the assailants and a transparent investigation into the case. No case had been registered till the filing of this news story.
