LAHORE: Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) organised a visit of foreign delegates from 19 countries in the provincial capital especially a curated tour along the historic Royal Trail on Saturday.
In a remarkable display of hospitality WCLA Director General Kamran Lashari hosted the esteemed guests throughout the day.
Among the distinguished guests were the ambassadors of Korea, Myanmar, Nepal, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, and representatives from the Sri Lankan High Commission. Their participation highlighted the growing interest of the international community in Pakistan’s cultural heritage and historic preservation efforts.
The objective of this visit was to show the world the rich architectural and conservation works underway in Lahore and to project a soft image of Pakistan globally. The tour served as a platform to promote cultural diplomacy and to celebrate the city's unique blend of history, art, and tradition. The immersive experience began with a guided tour through the majestic Delhi Gate, followed by a walk along the storied Gali Sabeel Wali and Gali Surjan Singh, areas renowned for their preserved Mughal-era architecture and vibrant street life.
The delegation also visited the Wazir Khan Masjid, a 17th-century architectural gem known for its intricate frescoes and elaborate tile work. A traditional breakfast was served at the historic Shahi Hamam, offering the guests a taste of local cuisine in a setting that once catered to Mughal nobility.
As night fell, the delegates were transported to the serene Shalimar Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where they were treated to an enchanting evening of cultural and musical performances, celebrating Pakistan’s diverse heritage. The beautifully lit garden, combined with the sounds of traditional music, left a lasting impression on the international visitors.
