One dead, three injured in gunfire

LAHORE: A long-standing enmity between two rival groups erupted into a deadly exchange of fire in Shahdara on Saturday, leaving one person dead and three others injured.

According to police sources, the clash broke out between the Omar group and the Zeeshan group, both known to have a history of tensions.

During the gunfire, one individual, identified as Munir, was killed on the spot, while three others — Shah Zain, Waqas, and Azeem — sustained injuries.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, police responded and arrested two suspects, Omar and Tayyab. Police also recovered weapons from the suspects’ possession. The injured were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while Munir's body was transported to the hospital for a postmortem examination via an Edhi ambulance. Legal proceedings have been initiated and further investigations are underway.

Woman along with her four kids abducted: A 29-year-old woman and her four

children were allegedly kidnapped from Gujjarpura area.

According to police, the woman, identified as Amber, was reportedly abducted while on her way to her mother’s house along with her children. A case of kidnapping has been registered at the local police station on the complaint of her husband, Hafiz Mehmood. In his statement to the police, Mehmood said that his wife Amber was accompanied by their children — 8-year-old Abdullah, 6-year-old Zainab, 5-year-old Ahmed, and 2-year-old Um Hani — when they went missing. He feared that they had been forcibly taken.

2 bodies recovered: Police recovered the bodies of two unidentified men from different parts of the city on Saturday.

Police suspected both victims were drug addicts. The first body was found in the washroom of a private store located in Shahdara’s Begum Kot area. The deceased, estimated to be around 30 years old, was discovered by store employees who immediately alerted police. In a separate incident, another body was recovered from Nishtar Colony near Ferozepur Road. Like the first case, the deceased remains unidentified and is also believed to have been a drug addict, according to preliminary police assessment.

rape attempt: Kahna police arrested a man who tried to rape a 15-year-old boy. The victim (H), a resident of Kahna, had gone to the fields to cut fodder where the accused named Hira lured the boy and tried to rape him.
