KARACHI: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday claimed that not even the losses being incurred by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) can compete with revenue losses being caused by the rampant looting going on at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).
Talking to Geo News, he said that the national economy is being deprived of trillions of rupees at the KPT.
Asif said that even the FBR cannot compete with the extent of losses being caused to the country’s income at the KPT, with the rampant looting going on there.
More revenue can be generated under various heads there, he said, adding that he was part of the committee that looked into the KPT affairs.
When asked about putting a stop to the losses being incurred, the defence minister expressed hope that all avenues of losses would be blocked.
