LAHORE: Islamabad United has announced the inclusion of West Indian all-rounder Kyle Mayers as an overseas replacement player for the ongoing HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. Mayers replaces Matt Short and Rassie van der Dussen, both of whom have been ruled out of the tournament.
Rassie van der Dussen will miss this season due to personal reasons. In a statement, Islamabad United expressed solidarity with the South African cricketer during this challenging time. “We stand firmly with Rassie van der Dussen and extend our full support to him and his family,” the franchise stated. The decision for van der Dussen to step away was mutually agreed upon after discussions with the player. With both van der Dussen and Short unavailable, the two-time PSL champions moved quickly to secure Mayers, who is set to join the squad ahead of their sixth match in Lahore.
