PU land worth Rs6bn reclaimed

LAHORE: On the instructions of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, the administration of Punjab University (PU) has got retrieved prime land worth Rs6 billion at Old Campus from the illegal occupants.

According to the PU spokesman, the employees had been occupying 2.5 kanals of land adjacent to Anarkali for over 50 years, which was inhabited by 13 families.

He said that Dr Muhammad Ali had taken notice of the illegal occupation of the prime land at Old Campus.

He said that the illegal occupants were living on the land worth Rs6 billion without paying rent, besides using water and gas for free.

According to the spokesperson, on the orders of the VC, the illegal occupation of the prime 24 kanal land of the New Campus for 70 years was also reclaimed recently.
