11 die in road accidents in 24 hours

LAHORE:The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,296 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,524 were injured. Out of these, 657 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 867 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.

Man hit to death

A 30-year-old man was crushed to death by a recklessly driven car at the Karol Ghati section of the Ring Road, Gujjarpura, on Sunday. According to initial reports, the young man was attempting to cross the busy highway when he was struck by a speeding car. Witnesses said the collision was so severe that the victim died instantly at the scene. Police were unable to immediately identify the victim. Body was shifted to morgue by Edhi Foundation volunteers.

Tortured body found

A tortured body was found in the Jalo Mor graveyard. According to police sources, the deceased, estimated to be around 30 years old, showed signs of severe torture. Due to the condition of the corpse, identification of the victim remained impossible at the scene. Officials noted that the body appeared to have been left there several days ago.

Meanwhile, in the Factory Area locality, body of a 50-year-old man was found on a footpath along Walton Road. The victim was later identified as Asghar, a resident of Gajjumatta. Preliminary investigations indicated that Asghar may have been a drug addict, and died due to substance abuse. Both the bodies were shifted to the morgue.

Commits suicide

A man reportedly committed suicide near Chowki Sabzi Mandi, Gate No 3, Ravi Road. Police said that the man, believed to be approximately 30 years of age, was found dead under circumstances suggesting self-harm. Body was transported to the morgue.
