LAHORE: Increasing trend was recorded this week in the prices of majority of seasonal vegetables and fruits. A massive overcharging is also witnessed as the district administration failed to implement official rates, leaving the buyers at the mercy of shopkeepers, who fleeced them with impunity.
The sellers sold perishable almost 50 to 100 percent higher than the fixed rates. If one argues of overcharging, they asked to go some other shop to buy at official rate.
This week, after two and half months, the rate of live chicken was further reduced by Rs27 per kg, fixed at Rs357-371 per kg, while the seller didn’t sale live chicken but the chicken meat was sold at Rs500-600 per kg and chicken boneless at Rs950-1000 per kg.
The price of potato soft skin A-grade was unchanged at Rs45-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs37-40 per kg and C-grade at Rs32-35 per kg, mixed sold at Rs50-70 per kg.
The price of onion A-grade was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs45-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, B-grade at Rs37-40 per kg, and C-grade at Rs27-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-70 per kg.
The price of tomato A-grade gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs45-50 per kg, sold at Rs120-130 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs36-40 per kg, and C-grade at Rs26-30 per kg, mixed sold at Rs60-100 per kg. The price of garlic local new was further reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs142-150 per kg, sold at Rs150-250 per kg, Garlic China by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs334-350 per kg, sold at Rs500 per kg. Garlic Harani increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs230-240 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.
The price of both Ginger Thai and Chinese unchanged at Rs353-370 per kg, both sold at Rs450-500 per kg. Cucumber Farm further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, cucumber local was sold at Rs120-130 per kg.
Brinjal price unchanged at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs80-120 per kg. Biter gourd further reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg. The price Spinach reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs18-25 at Rs50-60 per kg.
Zucchini farm further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at 66-70 per kg, sold at Rs120-140 per kg, and Zucchini long unchanged at Rs38-40 per kg, sold at Rs80-100 per kg, Zucchini local was fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs250-280 per kg. The lemon Chinese further gained by Rs60 per kg, fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs400 per kg.
Green chili gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs105-110 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Capsicum price was also gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs47-50 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg. Price of cauliflower was further gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg, and cabbage was unchanged at 28-30 per kg, sold at Rs100-150 per kg. Carrot Chinese unchanged at Rs42-45 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg, carrot local also fixed at Rs33-35 per kg, not sold.
Fenugreek (Methi) gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs66-70 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg. Pea price increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs100-105 per kg, sold at Rs200 per kg. Beetroot was sold at Rs200-250 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs60 per bundle. Pumpkin was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg. Sweet pumpkin was unchanged at Rs28-30 per kg, sold at Rs60-80 per kg.
Lady finger was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs176-185 per kg, sold at Rs250 per kg. Arum was reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs167-175 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg.
Luffa was further increased by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs114-120 per kg, sold at Rs150-160 per kg.
Kachnar was declined by Rs50 per kg, fixed at Rs172-180 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg. The price of different variety of apples gained by Rs5 per kg fixed at Rs180-340 per kg, sold at Rs250-600 per kg. The price of Banana A-category declined by Rs10 per dozen, fixed at Rs215-240 per dozen, sold at Rs350-400 per dozen, and B-category at Rs170-190 dozen, sold at Rs250-280 per dozen. C-grade was fixed at Rs107-120 per dozen, sold at Rs150-200 per dozen. Guava was increased by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs115-150 per kg, sold at Rs200-250 per kg. Dates were fixed at Rs430-460 per kg, sold at Rs900 to 2000 per kg.
Papaya further gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs191-200 per kg, sold at Rs250-300 per kg. Grapefruit was reduced by Rs5 per piece fixed at Rs33-35 per piece, sold at Rs60-80 per piece. Strawberry was fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs60-150 per kg.
Melon was declined by Rs25 per kg, fixed at Rs50-75 per kg, sold at Rs80-130 per kg. Watermelon was gained by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs38-40 per kg, sold at Rs50-80 per kg. Lokat was further reduced by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs162-170 per kg, sold at Rs250-350 per kg.
Cantaloupe was declined by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs71-75 per kg, sold at Rs100-150 per kg. Peach was fixed at Rs160-240 per kg, sold at Ra 250-350 per kg.
