Woman killed by brothers for contracting love marriage

karachi: Two brothers killed their sister over ‘honour’ in the Baldia Town area on Sunday.

Meanwhile four others, including a minor boy and a minor girl, were injured in separate incidents in Karachi.

A 24-year-old woman, Ayesha, was shot dead inside a house on Street No 36 of Yousuf Goth, Baldia Town. Her body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico-legal formalities. Saeedabad SHO Idrees Bangash said the deceased woman's husband, Shahid, informed the police that the couple had recently married of their own freewill and hailed from Sukkur.

Shahid alleged that his brothers-in-law stormed into the house and killed Ayesha before fleeing the scene. Police have registered an FIR on the husband’s complaint and started investigations.

In another incident in Landhi No 2, a 48-year-old woman, Shazia, wife of Nadeem, was shot and injured during a domestic dispute. She was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police said an investigation was under way.

Separately, a 10-year-old girl, Qurat, daughter of Alauddin, was critically injured after being hit by a stray bullet in Baldia Town Sector 3-C. She was rushed to the Trauma Centre at the Civil Hospital, where her condition was reported to be critical. Edhi officials said the bullet struck her in the neck.

In the Kalri area near Mauripur Truck Stand, a 19-year-old youth, Mustafa, son of Zaheer Hussain, was also injured by a stray bullet. Meanwhile, in Mominabad’s Bijli Nagar area, five-year-old Raz was wounded by a stray bullet and shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
