PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday, through a unanimous resolution, condemned the hostile attitude of India and its threats after the Pahalgam terror incident in Occupied Kashmir.
The resolution, moved by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) parliamentary leader Ahmad Karim Kundi, expressed concern over the Pahalgam incident and urged the international community to take notice of the Indian government’s violation of international laws and treaties, including the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
Both the treasury and opposition benches supported the joint resolution, showing full support for the armed forces in safeguarding the country’s integrity and sovereignty.
Before tabling the resolution, the PPP lawmaker said that Pakistan and its people had suffered immensely from terrorism and militancy over the last several decades, with hundreds of innocent people and security forces personnel falling prey to terrorism.
He said that the Pahalgam incident had exposed the nefarious designs of the Modi government in India, which was blaming Pakistan for the act without any solid evidence.
Earlier, the KP Assembly passed another unanimous resolution calling for the release of Member of National Assembly (MNA) and central leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, Ali Wazir.
Awami National Party MPA Nisar Baz, who moved the resolution, said that the former MNA from South Waziristan was arrested and put behind bars in a false and fabricated case in August last year and had since been languishing in different jails across the country.
He added that Ali Wazir was not receiving proper medical treatment and that his health had deteriorated in jail, while the jail authorities were not providing him basic facilities such as proper food and medicines.
The resolution urged the federal and provincial governments to release Ali Wazir on humanitarian grounds at the earliest. The assembly session, chaired by a member of the panel of chairmen, MPA Taj Mohammad Tarand, was adjourned until next Monday.
