LAHORE:Iqbal Town police, in an operation launched in response to a Rescue 15 call, recovered a young woman who had been allegedly abducted at knifepoint and arrested the suspect involved.
According to police, the accused, identified as Inam Rasool, abducted the victim ‘R’ from Main Boulevard by threatening her with a knife. He then took her to the Shahdara area. CCTV footage of the incident, which has since surfaced, shows the suspect forcibly taking the woman with him. Upon receiving the emergency call, police traced the suspect’s location and conducted a raid in Shahdara. The woman was safely recovered, and the suspect was arrested on the spot. The police also recovered the knife used in the abduction. Investigations revealed that Inam Rasool had allegedly prepared a fake marriage certificate (Nikahnama) in an attempt to harass and blackmail the victim. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the matter.
Road accidents
At least 17 people died, 1,278 people were injured in 1,120 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
Out of these, 549 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 729 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams. Furthermore, the analysis showed those 728 drivers, 58 underage drivers, 155 pedestrians, and 412 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.
