I wish to draw attention to the soaring prices of sacrificial animals ahead of Eid. Every year, Muslims across the country eagerly prepare to fulfil the religious duty of sacrifice. However, this year, the prices of animals like goats, cows and camels have skyrocketed, making it difficult for many middle- and low-income families to afford them. The sharp increase in prices seems to be driven by a combination of factors: lingering inflation, high transportation costs and the lack of price regulation in livestock markets. While it is understandable that traders aim to make a profit, the excessive rates are causing distress to many who wish to participate in this important religious tradition. I urge the concerned authorities to monitor the livestock markets, ensure fair pricing and prevent exploitative practices.
