Campuses observe Day of Gratitude

LAHORE: The Government College University (GCU) Lahore on Friday organised a rally and ceremony to mark Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) in recognition of the success of operation ‘Bunyan-un-Marsoos’.

Punjab Minister for Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Omer Chaudhry led the rally from the GCU Mosque.

Speaking at the event, Punjab Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat commended the armed forces and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening higher education. He said the leadership at GCU is focused on academic excellence and institutional growth.

The vice chancellor highlighted the contributions of GCU alumni in national defence and paid tribute to the armed forces and martyrs. He stated that the university stands in solidarity with those who served the nation. The ceremony concluded with prayers and messages of national unity.

Separately, Punjab University also hosted a flag hoisting ceremony and organised a rally outside the PU Admin Block in connection with the day of thanksgiving for the success of operation ‘Bunyan un Marsoos’ here on Friday.

In the ceremony PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Ali hoisted the flag and led the rally from VC’s Office to the Undergraduate Block. On this occasion, President Academic Staff Association (ASA) Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi, teachers, employees and other officials were present.

In his address, Prof Dr M Ali said that great nations never forget their martyrs and ghazis and we pay tribute to the martyrs and their families. He said that the bravery and exceptional skills shown by the Pakistan Air Force is unparalleled. He said that the ground forces repelled the Indian army on occupied Kashmir, Sialkot border and other fronts.

He said that after seeing the preparedness of Pakistan Navy, the enemy did not dare to attack. He said that our cyber force fought the best war on its front as well. He said that the Pakistani forces defeated India, a much larger enemy and taught it a lesson that its generations will remember.

Prof Dr M Ali said that Pakistan’s response has been proven that decisions will be made on the basis of equality in the region. He said that the whole world recognised Pakistan's victory in the war. He said that the Pakistani nation has shown great solidarity. He said that the teachers, employees and students of PU are grateful to their political leadership and Pak army.
