South Asia has become an arena for potential future conflict, which could have catastrophic consequences for the region and the world. Therefore, war must be avoided at all costs. Unlike other regions, South Asia appears to have overlooked the lessons of history. In an era where economic progress drives global priorities, mutual trade has eclipsed conflict in many regions.
Former adversaries now prioritise partnership over hostility. A South Asian Union, modelled on the European Union, could transform the region, but only if its nations commit to dialogue, compromise and collaboration, reducing reliance on non-regional allies.
