LAHORE : LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited Raiwind Road and Jan Muhammad Road on Saturday along with Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain and expressed anger over slow pace of LDA’s Engineering Wing. LDA DG directed LDA’s Engineering Wing Project Director and contractor to speed up the work.
Talking to the scribe, LDA DG said he didn’t visit the site for one week and things have gone slow. He said he will not tolerate this kind of slackness and will take strict departmental action against the Project Director concerned of the LDA’s Engineering Wing.
LDA DG, during his visit, also directed to improve the geometry of the intersection of Jan Muhammad Road with the help of Tepa. He reviewed the repair and maintenance works at various points of Thokar Niaz Baig till Adda Plot on Raiwind Road.
Chief Engineer Tepa, while giving a briefing, said that the road has been improved for traffic by removing encroachments from Raiwind Road, removing boards and sheds.
LDA DG also reviewed the upgradation of signals at various points of Raiwind Road where the project director gave a briefing. LDA DG directed to complete the work of upgradation of signals soon.
The work of upgradation of signals at four important intersections on Raiwind Road is underway. Signals were being upgraded at Qazilbash Chowk, Sher Shah Colony, Bhobtian Chowk and LDA Avenue One Chowk. The work of upgradation of signals is in the final stages and will be completed soon.
Earlier, LDA DG Tahir Farooq visited the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) where Chief Engineer TEPA Iqrar Hussain gave a briefing about the ongoing projects and reforms at a meeting.
The meeting was also briefed about the upgradation work of signals on Raiwind Road. The work of upgradation of signals is underway at four important intersections on Raiwind Road. Signals are being upgraded at Qazilbash Chowk, Sher Shah Colony, Bhobtian Chowk and LDA Avenue One Chowk.
LDA DG directed to expedite the work of upgrading the signals and digital reforms in Tepa. He directed Tepa to digitise its reports and NOCs and integrate them with LDA.
LDA DG said that Tepa, in collaboration with LDA, will create a digital mechanism in the next few days. Citizens will not have to visit Tepa office for NOCs and other reports. Director Traffic Engineering M Waqar Aslam, Director Enforcement Furqan Zaheer and other officers were present on the occasion.
