Security measures for cattle markets complete

LAHORE:Punjab Police have completed the security arrangements for cattle markets across the province ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the security duties of 230 cattle markets across the province, including Lahore, are being performed by 4,000 officers and personnel. In Lahore, 1,000 cops have been deployed for the security of 11 cattle markets.

In a statement, IGP said comprehensive measures have been taken for the security of traders and buyers in the cattle markets. He said except the points approved by the district administration, no one is allowed to set up cattle markets at any place. He said legal action would be taken against illegal cattle markets and sale points.

An effective patrolling plan will be formed to crack down on fraudsters, pickpockets, and criminals. Around 284 patrolling teams, including Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit will conduct effective patrolling around the cattle markets. The spokesperson said 200 officers and personnel have been deployed for the security of 26 cattle markets in Sheikhupura region, 600 for the security of 41 cattle markets in Gujranwala region, 250 for 15 cattle markets in Rawalpindi region, 200 for 24 cattle markets in Sargodha region, 600 for 19 cattle markets in Faisalabad, more than 400 for 26 cattle markets in Multan, more than 200 for 11 cattle markets in Sahiwal, 300 for 35 cattle markets in Bahawalpur and 200 cops for the security of 22 cattle markets in DG Khan.
