Suspect arrested after harassment video goes viral

LAHORE:Green Town police arrested a suspect accused of harassing a minor girl after video evidence of the incident went viral on social media.

The suspect, identified as Hamza, was traced and apprehended from Block 3, Sector C-1 with the help of Safe City surveillance and viral video footage. SP Saddar Dr Ghayur Ahmed Khan stated that the police have a zero-tolerance for those who harass women and children, emphasising that strict action would be taken against such offenders. A case was registered.

‘Robber’ killed in encounter

In a late-night police encounter in Sundar, a suspected robber was killed while his accomplices escaped following an exchange of gunfire.

According to police, officers had established a checkpoint in the area based on intelligence about criminal activity. When authorities attempted to stop three suspicious motorcyclists, they opened fire, leading to a shootout. During the confrontation, one of the robbers, later identified as M Naseer, was critically wounded by bullets allegedly fired by his own associates. He was rushed to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police investigations revealed Naseer had an extensive criminal history, with involvement in dozens of serious offences, including murder, theft and armed robbery. Body was shifted to morgue.

Four die in separate incidents

Four individuals died in separate incidents here Friday. In DHA Phase 9, a speeding car struck a motorcycle, killing 22-year old Mohsin on the spot. The victim's body was shifted to the morgue, according to Edhi officials.

Separately, a 30-year-old unidentified man was found dead near Khark Nala in Sabzazar. Edhi representatives confirmed the deceased was a drug addict. In another incident along Kacha Ferozepur Road, Kahna, locals discovered the body of a 55-year old man, also suspected to be a drug user. With no identification documents found, authorities have been unable to establish his identity. The fourth fatality occurred near Lal Pul in Harbanspura, where a 45-year-old man's body was recovered from a greenbelt. Preliminary investigations suggest drug overdose as the likely cause of death. All four bodies were transferred to the morgue.
